Many Italians will remember the judicial investigation of Calciopoli that shook the world of football in the first decade of the 2000s, but only a few know that the Salieri Football series played a crucial role in the investigations. This happened not because of the film's narrative, which is the product of the author's imagination, but due to an exclusive interview granted to Salieri by Carlo Petrini, former player for Roma under Nils Liedholm and for Milan under Nereo Rocco. The shocking and emotional interview, featured at the end of the third part of the Salieri Football series, went unnoticed by the inattentive adult film audience but was taken seriously by the judiciary. The fiction narrates the stories of footballers, agents, presidents, and journalists revolving around the world of Italian football, and although it is a product of imagination, the events and people incredibly reflect reality.
